The Windward Islands Farmers’ Association (WINFA) works with Fairtrade since the 1990s. Groups of Fairtrade farmers have been set up on each island and they collectively began shipping Fairtrade bananas to the UK in 2000. There are now approximately 48 Fairtrade Groups with a total of about 3,347 members.
