WINFA's Executive Board and Secretariat

WINFA is a democratic organization with an elected executive board. The WINFA Secretariat was set up in 1982 with two staff members. The Secretariat now has a working staff of nine. The WINFA Secretariat coordinates the work of the other islands (St. Lucia, Dominica and Grenada).

Coordinator:

The Coordinator of WINFA is Mr. Renwick Rose. Mr. Rose has been with WINFA since 1982, as the Program Officer. In 1985, he was promoted to the position of Coordinator. He coordinates the overall work of the organization including that of Dominica, Grenada and St. Lucia. Renwick Rose is the Coordinator of WINFA, which is an Association of Caribbean Farmers and agro processors.

Mr. Rose is the founding member of the local Civil Society Forum and serves on the National Economic Social Development Council (NESDEC) which comprised the government, the private sector and civil society as well as the National Constitutional Review Commission (NCRC).

On a Regional level, He is a Director of the Caribbean Policy Development Centre, an umbrella of regional NGOs, and a founder of the Caribbean Reference Group (CRG), which is involved in educational and advocacy work on Trade such as the Cotonou and LOME agreements, the Free Trade Agreement of the Americas (FTAA) and other agricultural policy issues.

WINFA’s Coordinator is the Caribbean representative for the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP) civil society organization and participated in the European Commission Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) meetings. He has also represented the group at ACP-European Union Joint Parliamentary Assembly and represents WINFA at numerous international conferences, seminars and workshops.

His career spanned over 30 years as an economic, social and political activist and also teacher.

 

Fair Trade Manager:

Mr. Arthur Bobb is the Manager of the WINFA Fair Trade Unit, after joining the WINFA staff in 2002. In 2004, he was promoted to Fair Trade Manager. He is responsible for the functioning of the Fair Trade Unit in the Windward Islands. His duties include working to ensure that the Fair Trade criteria are met; working with stakeholders to ensure the sustainability of Fair Trade; representing the Fair Trade movement at local, regional and international gatherings.

Fair Trade Technical Officer:

Mr. Karomo Browne is the Fair Trade Technical Officer.  He is the newest member of staff, having joined WINFA in 2007. He is responsible for monitoring compliance of all registered producers groups with Fair-trade  Labeling Organization (FLO)criteria; implementing training program for Fair-trade farmers and extension officers working with stakeholder agencies; working with relevant research/diagnostic agencies on non-chemical and sustainable strategies in Fair Trade production.

Administrator:

Mrs. Ancelma Rose is the Administrator of the Windward Islands Farmers Association. She is responsible for the smooth uninterrupted running of the administrative unit of WINFA which includes correspondences, documantations, staffing, payments, procurements, and other related resources and services pertinent to meeting WINFA's daily needs

Program Officer:

The Program Officer of WINFA is Mrs. Kozel Fraser joined WINFA in 2006.

Fair Trade Secretary:

Mrs. Sharon Haynes joined the WINFA Fair Trade staff in 2005. Her duties include documentation and management of the Fair Trade data base system.
